1ST PRIZE

Louis Pattis of Brandon, Vt. won first prize, a Sony DSLR700K digital camera, provided by our sponsor, Green Mt. Camera of Waterbury Ctr., Vt.

Louis took this dramatic photo, "The Forgotten Farm Tractor" off Fiddle Hill Road in Sudbury, Vt. in October 2008 at daybreak, just as the moon was setting in the west. Louis used a Nikon D2X with a Lee N/D Grat filter, and a tripod (exposure was 1.3 seconds at ISO 320.) Congratulations, Louis!

2ND PRIZE

Our second prize of a Sony DSCH50 digital camera from Green Mountain Camera went to Jane Ogilvie of Ripton, Vt. Jane was actually out looking for birds along Route 30 between Cornwall and Whiting, when she spotted this old barn and silo. A 100-400 zoom lens on a Canon 40D SLR brought the eastern mountains closer to make a striking image conveying the feeling of desolation and chill of winter winds. Congratulations, Jane!

3RD PRIZE

Ann Creaven of West Glover, Vt. won our third prize, a Sony DSC-Wi50 Cybershot digital camera from Green Mt. Camera. She took this delightful picture at Clark's Pond on Route 116, just south of Glover, as a school bus made it's early morning run. The picture, taken with a basic point-and-shoot digital camera, truly captures the essence of rural Vermont in its splendid composition, as well as the feeling of the fall season. Congratulations, Ann!
